Lawyer Found Dead in Imo State Four Days After Disappearance
The unsettling discovery of the decomposing body of a missing lawyer, Garricks Anyanwu, has sent shockwaves through the community of Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State. Anyanwu’s remains were found in a bush by wandering hunters on Monday, four days after his disappearance was reported.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Chukwuemeka Mbamala, a former classmate of the deceased at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, suggested that Anyanwu might have been the victim of foul play, possibly assassinated.
“Garricks Anyanwu was murdered by unknown assassins in his hometown of Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo. His decomposing corpse was discovered in a bush on Monday after he had been missing for four days,” Mbamala stated.
According to Mbamala, Anyanwu’s funeral is scheduled for Friday, adding, “He was my coursemate at the University of Science and Technology, Enugu State, in the year 2003. We are urging the authorities concerned to apprehend the assassins and ensure that justice is served.”
When reached for comment, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, revealed that the command had not yet received official information regarding the incident.
The circumstances surrounding Garricks Anyanwu’s tragic demise remain unclear, raising concerns about the safety and security of residents in Imo State. Authorities are being urged to swiftly investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice.
