Lawmaker Threatens Legal Action Against Air Peace Over Alleged Breach Of Contract

Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, the House of Representatives member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Interior, has issued a stern warning of legal repercussions against Air Peace Limited for purportedly breaching a contractual agreement.

Ahmed alleges that the Nigerian carrier downgraded his flight from business class to economy class despite him shelling out approximately N12 million for a journey from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The lawmaker, accompanied by his family on a lesser hajj pilgrimage, revealed that their scheduled departure from Kano airport on March 27th was marred by a delay, pushing their travel to the subsequent day.

Expressing dismay over Air Peace’s recurrent delays, flight disruptions, and sudden itinerary alterations, Ahmed voiced his grievance over the airline’s decision to downgrade his ticket sans compensation, even after paying for a premium business class seat.

Emphasizing his intent to pursue legal recourse against Air Peace, Ahmed aimed to address what he perceives as mistreatment endured by passengers within Nigeria’s aviation domain.

Echoing Ahmed’s sentiment, another affected traveler, Ibrahim Shehu, urged the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and relevant governmental entities to intervene and seek restitution for funds disbursed to Air Peace by affected voyagers.

As of the time of this report, Air Peace has not issued any immediate response.

Efforts to solicit a comment from the airline’s spokesperson, Stanley Olisa, remained unanswered.
