Lagos Celestial Church Pastor Defends Invitation of Fuji Singer Pasuma, Afrobeats Star Portable for Praise Night
In a recent move that sparked controversy on social media, Aderemi Dabiri, the founder of a Celestial Church of Christ branch in Lagos State, defended his decision to invite renowned fuji singer Pasuma and rising Afrobeats star Portable for a praise night event.
Addressing the criticism in a trending video, Dabiri clarified that the aim behind inviting secular artists was to attract new converts to the church. He emphasized that the church had a history of inviting guest artists without encountering issues.
Dabiri explained, “We can’t go where they sell palm wine or alcoholic drinks and ask them to accept Jesus Christ. If I don’t apply wisdom, they will hit a bottle on my head. That was why I thought of a way to bring them into the church.”
Expressing dissatisfaction with the behavior of some gospel singers, he criticized their rudeness and highlighted the respectful response he received from Pasuma when extending the invitation. Dabiri urged support from the Celestial Church worldwide and pledged his commitment to utilizing his unique style of evangelism to bring pride to the church.
