Kwara Mother Despairs Over Suffocation of Three Children in Husband’s Borrowed Car
In a heart-wrenching incident that shook the community of Ilorin, Kwara State, Shade Silifat Abdulkadir, a 37-year-old mother, opened up about the devastating loss of her three children who suffocated to death in a parked car last Sunday.
The victims, identified as 10-year-old Maryam, 8-year-old Nudrah, and 2-year-old Mohammed, lost their lives after being trapped in a vehicle borrowed by their father from his elder brother. The distressing incident occurred at the family’s residence in Ile Magaji, Taiwo Isale.
Shade, in an emotional interview with journalists, shared the heart-wrenching details of the tragedy. She appealed for support from fellow Nigerians, recounting the moments leading up to the incident.
The grieving mother explained that she had left her children at home briefly to purchase noodles for them, having assured them that she could collect money from acquaintances if needed. Tragically, upon her return, she discovered the children missing. It was only after an extensive search that she found them in the parked car, lifeless.
Shade also revealed the challenging circumstances she faced in her marriage, citing her husband’s involvement with another woman. The complexities of her relationship added to the already unbearable grief. She expressed frustration over the recent birth of her husband’s second child with the other woman and the strained dynamics within the marriage.
Despite the ongoing marital challenges, Shade emphasized the need for assistance and urged all mothers to empathize with her plight. The police have been involved in the investigation, with the Inspector General of Police taking a keen interest in the case.
