Kwara Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Hypnotizing, Raping Teenager

In a recent court ruling, Tashiu Aminu Lulu, a resident of Kwara State, has been sentenced to five years in prison for the hypnotization and sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman, whose identity remains undisclosed.

This verdict came after the victim bravely reported the incident to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Kaiama Division, leading to Lulu’s arrest and subsequent trial.

According to details from the NSCDC charge sheet, Lulu initiated contact with the victim via phone and lured her to his residence, where she disrobed under his hypnotic influence. In a disturbing sequence of events, he proceeded to cut hair from various parts of her body and coerced her into performing incantations with a calabash in her hands before sexually assaulting her. Subsequently, the victim reported experiencing unsettling dreams.

During the court proceedings, Lulu pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against him. Abubakar Umar, representing the NSCDC, outlined the three-count charges of criminal charm, criminal assault/force, and gross indecency, citing violations of Sections 217, 268, and 285 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Abubakar Ahmed Boro presided over the case and handed down a sentence of five years in prison for the defendant. Additionally, Boro ordered the public destruction of the charm used by the convict in the crime.

This verdict sends a strong message regarding the severity of such offenses and emphasizes the importance of justice and protection for victims of sexual assault in Kwara State.
