Kidnapped Anambra Female Police Officer Found Dead in Idemili

A female police officer serving at the Ogidi Division in the Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State has been found dead after being kidnapped by unidentified assailants.

The officer, identified as a Woman Inspector (W/INSPR) and prosecutor attached to the division, was reportedly abducted on Thursday. Her remains were discovered on Friday morning in a bush, according to police sources who confirmed the development.

A distressing video circulating online showed the lifeless body of the officer, sparking outrage and fear among residents. Details surrounding her abduction and subsequent killing remain unclear as investigations continue.

The incident has heightened tension in Ogidi and nearby communities, where cases of violence have been on the rise in recent months. On September 11, 2025, gunmen suspected to be cultists opened fire during a burial ceremony in Ezi Village, Ogidi, killing four people and injuring about 15 others. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, believed to be members of a rival cult group, arrived on motorcycles and shot indiscriminately at mourners before escaping.

Residents have expressed concern over the worsening security situation in Idemili, calling on authorities to intensify efforts to track down those behind the killing and restore peace in the area.

Police officials have yet to issue an official statement on the officer’s death as of press time.
