Anambra Police Raid Ogidi Black Spot, Arrest Six Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearm and Drugs
Police operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu Ukwu, have arrested six suspected cult members during a raid on a notorious black spot in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The operation, carried out on 12 August 2025 at about 2:30 p.m., followed credible intelligence that prompted the team to storm the 7th Mile area of Ogidi. According to police sources, the suspects—five males and one female—were apprehended at the scene.
Recovered items included a fabricated Beretta pistol without a magazine and quantities of illicit drugs, including Mkpuru Mmiri (crystal methamphetamine).
Those arrested have been identified as:
* Olisaemeka Izuchukwu, 21
* Isioma Chisom, 22
* Chinonso Izuchukwu, 20
* Chinaza Isioma, 24
* Onyekwelu Miracle, 19
* Mrs. Chinenye Eloka Okeke, 35
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, commended the operatives for their swift and decisive action. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against cultism, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities across the state.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
