Kano Residents Hold Special Prayer for Rain Amid Prolonged Dry Season

Residents of Kano gathered in large numbers on Saturday at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque to participate in a special rain-seeking prayer, Salatul Istisqa, organised by the Kano State Council of Ulama. The prayer was held in response to growing concern over the delayed onset of the rainy season, which has raised fears among farmers and the wider community.

The event drew notable attendance, including respected clerics, government officials, and community leaders, all united in seeking divine intervention to end the dry spell affecting agricultural activities across the state.

Chairman of the Council, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, addressed the gathering after the prayer, urging the public to embrace charity, alms-giving, and good deeds as means to attract Allah’s mercy. He encouraged residents to go beyond prayers by embodying righteous conduct, fulfilling religious duties, and offering support to the less fortunate.

“Charity and good deeds attract Allah’s mercy and can bring prosperity to the land,” Sheikh Khalil said, adding that acts of repentance and reconciliation are essential during such times. He stressed the need for individuals to mend their relationships with both Allah and their fellow humans, emphasizing that true healing comes through sincerity, kindness, and unity.
