Kano Man Remanded for Allegedly Killing Wife Over Kuli-Kuli Dispute
A Kano State High Court has ordered the remand of Idris Kurma for allegedly killing his wife, Aisha Idris, following a dispute over the preparation of kuli-kuli, a popular Northern Nigerian snack made from roasted and spiced groundnuts.
The incident reportedly took place in Goda village, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State. Kurma was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Penal Code. During the hearing, the prosecution read the charge to the defendant, who pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution requested more time to present its witnesses, and Justice Musa Dahiru granted the adjournment, remanding Kurma in a correctional facility. The case has been adjourned to December 12, 2025, for continuation.
