Kamala Won Debate, Trump Favored to win Election – Moghalu Comments
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has offered his insights into the recent U.S. presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Moghalu stated that Harris outperformed expectations during her debate with Trump, emphasizing that her preparation and delivery gave her a clear victory in the exchange.
“@KamalaHarris clearly won her debate with @realDonaldTrump last night. She was underestimated going in, but was very prepared and over-performed. She was poised and presidential, precise and concise with her points. Trump mostly not so. And he fell for her baits,” he wrote.
However, despite Harris’ strong performance, Moghalu predicted that Trump remains favored to win the upcoming election due to the structure of the U.S. Electoral College system. He noted that the race remains tight, with both candidates having a path to victory.
“But if the election were held today, Trump probably would still win, because of the Electoral College system. It remains a tight race till November. Either candidate could win, but Harris has more room to grow, whereas Trump appears to have hit his ceiling of support,” Moghalu added in his analysis, calling the situation a “#Nailbiter.”
The comments highlight Moghalu’s view that while Harris demonstrated strong leadership during the debate, the overall race remains highly competitive.
