Kaduna: Bandits Burn 12 People Alive, Destroy 17 Homes in Rampage

Bandits launched a deadly assault on Gindin Dutse Makyali village in the Kufana district of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The attackers, reportedly numbering several, struck the unsuspecting community around 5 am on Sunday, catching residents off guard as they slept.

While the police authorities in Kaduna are yet to officially confirm the incident, Moses Musa, a community leader, informed Channels Television that the assault took place dangerously close to a military checkpoint. He revealed that the assailants began firing indiscriminately upon their invasion, resulting in the tragic death of at least twelve individuals, with nine others suffering severe injuries from fire burns.

Disturbingly, Musa disclosed that nine people met a gruesome end as they were burned alive inside their homes. Additionally, the bandits left a trail of destruction, setting ablaze a total of 17 houses during the prolonged attack. Shockingly, there was no reported intervention or resistance from the stationed military personnel in the community.

This horrific event follows a concerning trend of escalating attacks by armed bandits in the North-West region, particularly in Kaduna State. Another assault in the same Local Government Area was reported recently, claiming the lives of at least six individuals, including a former Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and his younger brother in Kwassam and Sabon Layin communities.

Josiah Abraks, the spokesperson for the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), revealed that the bandits attacked Kwassam community on a Friday night, and simultaneously kidnapped 50 people in Sabon Layin village. Expressing deep concern, Abraks urged the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to take decisive action against these relentless bandit attacks plaguing communities in Southern Kaduna. The call for urgent intervention is growing louder as residents face continued threats to their safety and well-being.
