JUST IN: Voters Allegedly Beat PDP Agent to Stupor in Edo
Tension erupted at Ozolua Model Primary School, Iguobazuwa East Ward in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State on Saturday when an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party was allegedly beaten to stupor by angry voters.
The agent, whose identity had not been confirmed at the time of filing this report, was accused of refusing to release Permanent Voter Cards to eligible voters. The situation quickly turned chaotic as the crowd descended on him before police officers stepped in to rescue him from further assault.
Despite the incident, electoral materials reportedly arrived at the polling units as early as 7 a.m., and many voters turned out across wards in Iguobazuwa to cast their ballots.
The development adds to a series of election-related controversies in the country, with recent reports of abductions, arrests, and allegations of vote-buying involving political party agents in different states.
