JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints Munirudeen Oyebamiji as NIWA MD, Ukeyima as Shippers Council CEO

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji as the new Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). In addition to this, Akutah Pius Ukeyima has been appointed as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC).

These appointments come as part of a strategic effort to bolster the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and are consistent with the recommendations made by Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji is a seasoned professional with a background in Banking and Finance, backed by a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Business Administration. With over 28 years of experience in various sectors of the economy, his entry into public service was marked by the successful reversal of the declining fortunes of the Osun State Investment Company Limited. Subsequently, he served as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance for eight years.

On the other hand, Akutah Pius Ukeyima is a graduate of Law and holds a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. His most recent role was as the Head of the Central Authority Unit, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

In a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu’s media aide, it was emphasized that the new appointees are tasked with the responsibility of faithfully implementing the policies and programs of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy. This appointment is seen as a crucial step in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda’s Blue Economy strategy, with the goal of expeditiously and efficiently enhancing revenues and investments.
