JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints Abdullahi Ramat as NERC Chairman, Names Two New Commissioners
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The appointment was confirmed in a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
The President also named Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services. All nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.
To prevent a leadership vacuum, President Tinubu has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity pending his confirmation. Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management.
The President urged the appointees to bring their expertise to bear in delivering on the administration’s vision for the power sector.
