JUST IN: Tension Escalates in Kano as Governor Yusuf Orders Arrest of Deposed Emir Bayero
Kano State is currently gripped by heightened tension following the alleged forceful return of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has ordered the immediate arrest of Bayero, intensifying the already volatile situation.
Reports indicate that Governor Yusuf, alongside his Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalam and other senior government officials, have taken control of the Emir’s Palace to thwart any attempts at Bayero’s reinstatement. A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, confirmed the arrest order, citing violations of state laws and directives by the deposed Emir.
Aminu Ado Bayero was reportedly brought back to Kano and is currently staying at the Nasarawa Emir Rest House, near the Ministry of Works. Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf and his Deputy remain at the Emir’s Palace, having reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
In a video circulating on social media, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam expressed strong opposition to Bayero’s return, accusing the National Security Adviser (NSA) and former Governor Ganduje of orchestrating the move. “We are here, we are not going anywhere,” Abdussalam declared, denouncing the actions as an attempt to incite chaos in Kano.
Abdussalam highlighted that the State Assembly had thoroughly deliberated and repealed the Emirate Council Law, questioning the motives behind the NSA and Ganduje’s actions.
Insiders reveal that two private jets were used to transport Bayero back to Kano, signaling an elaborate attempt to reinstall him. In response, the governor and his cabinet have entrenched themselves in the Emir’s Palace, prepared for any potential conflict.
