JUST IN: Soludo appoints Chiamaka Nnake as Anambra’s first female SSG

 

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has appointed 39-year-old Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), making her the first woman to hold the position.

 

The announcement was made on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.

 

Nnake, a native of Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area, previously served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning. In that role, she oversaw resource planning and allocation aimed at driving the state’s economic development. She also chaired Solution Fun City Limited and participated in several state boards, including the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Small Business Agency.

 

Her portfolio includes coordinating reforms to improve the ease of doing business and overseeing social investment programmes. She currently serves as Nigeria’s chairperson for the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) Programme.

 

Before entering public service, Nnake worked as a senior strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria, where she handled more than 30 projects across sectors such as finance, agriculture and government. She received the firm’s CEO award in 2021.

 

Earlier in her career, she held roles at IHS Towers and Meristem Securities.

 

Nnake contributed to the development of the Anambra Vision 2070 plan. She holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and a first-class degree in accounting from Benson Idahosa University. She is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and has completed executive training at Harvard Kennedy School. She is currently pursuing a PhD in public policy.

 

Soludo began his second term as governor on March 17.
