JUST IN: Simon Ekpa, Four Others Arrested in Finland Over Terror-Related Charges

Simon Ekpa, a Finnish-Nigerian separatist and self-declared Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, has been arrested alongside four other individuals in Finland. The arrests, linked to terror-related activities, were confirmed by the Finnish Central Criminal Police.

According to a statement released by the authorities, Ekpa was detained on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent. The other four individuals are accused of financing terrorist activities. The arrests occurred earlier in the week, and the suspects have been remanded in custody by the district court of Päijät-Häme.

The Finnish police indicated that Ekpa, a Finnish citizen of Nigerian descent born in the 1980s, is alleged to have used social media platforms to incite violence against civilians and authorities in southeastern Nigeria. The police suspect that his activities have contributed to crimes in the region.

Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, leading the investigation, highlighted the international dimension of the case, noting that cross-border collaboration has been essential to the ongoing inquiry.
