JUST IN: Edo Governor Okpebholo Dissolves Governing Councils of State Universities, Sacks Hospital Management Staff
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the dissolution of the Governing Councils for all state-owned tertiary institutions, including Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, with immediate effect.
In a related move, the governor also approved the disengagement of the management staff at Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital, both located in Benin City, effective immediately.
The decisions were made public in a government announcement issued on November 20, 2024, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq. The statement instructed all affected council members to immediately hand over any government property in their possession to the heads of their respective institutions. Similarly, management staff of the two hospitals are required to surrender government properties to the most senior officers at the facilities.
