JUST IN: Security Operatives Disperse #FreeNnamdiKanuNow Protesters in Abuja
Security operatives on Monday forcefully dispersed protesters demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu in the Maitama area of Abuja.
The demonstration, organized under the banner #FreeNnamdiKanuNow and led by activist Omoyele Sowore, took place near the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) headquarters. Participants, including Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and others, were seen chanting “Free Nnamdi Kanu Now” before security personnel moved in.
Eyewitnesses said the protesters had urged the police not to use teargas shortly before gunshots were heard, prompting many to run for safety.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests at the time of this report.
Details are still emerging.
