JUST IN: Security Forces Dismantle Criminal Camp in Ogbunka After Intense Gun Battle
A joint security operation led by the police has successfully dislodged a criminal camp in Ogbunka, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The team, which included personnel from the Nigerian Army’s 302 Artillery Regiment, the Navy, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante Group, acted on intelligence gathered over time to carry out the raid.
The operation lasted six hours and involved a fierce gun battle with the armed criminals. According to the police, the security forces overcame the gang’s defensive explosives and forced them to flee, with several of the suspects sustaining gunshot injuries. While some criminals managed to escape, the team recovered a cache of items from the camp, including cooking utensils, food supplies, and parts of what are believed to be dismembered stolen vehicles.
Security operatives have now taken control of the area to maintain dominance and prevent a resurgence of criminal activity, with efforts ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects. The Anambra State Police Command, speaking on behalf of all involved security agencies, reassured residents that it remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
