JUST IN: Scores Dead, Others Wounded in Violent Shootout Between Soldiers, Unknown Gunmen in Imo State
A fierce gun battle erupted late last night in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries among soldiers and civilians.
Sources confirmed that the clash began at an Aba branch, where armed assailants reportedly attacked and killed several soldiers. “Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday,” a source revealed. “The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities.”
The relentless gunfire prompted panic among residents, forcing many to flee their homes amid the chaos. “We are terrified,” said a local who wished to remain anonymous. “The sound of gunfire is still echoing in our ears. We don’t know what will happen next. We are worried; Ehime used to be a serene environment, and we don’t know what is happening.”
As of now, police and military authorities have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
