JUST IN: President Tinubu Announces New Appointment
In a move to fill the vacancy left by the late Hon. Asondu Wenah Temple, President Bola Tinubu has officially announced Ambassador Desmond Akawor as the Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). The appointment is contingent upon Senate approval, according to a statement from the presidential spokesman on Thursday.
Representing Rivers State, Ambassador Akawor brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, and Executive Director at the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services).
President Tinubu emphasized the need for Akawor to leverage his extensive background across various government tiers to spearhead comprehensive reforms. The objective is to optimize the efficient and productive utilization of allocations to all three levels of government in Nigeria. The nation now awaits the Senate’s deliberation on this pivotal appointment.
