Nigerian Man Charged After Stabbing Army Officer in Kent
Anthony Esan, a 24-year-old Nigerian, has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of Lieutenant Colonel Mark Teeton near Brompton Barracks.
The incident occurred around 5:55 PM on Tuesday in Sally Port Gardens, close to the headquarters of the 1 Royal School of Military Engineering Regiment. Esan was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Following the attack, police reported that a man left the scene on a motorcycle. Esan was subsequently arrested on Mooring Road in Rochester at approximately 6:30 PM.
Lieutenant Colonel Teeton, who is in his 40s, was airlifted to the hospital and is currently in a serious but stable condition. Esan was seen arriving at Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
