JUST IN: NECO Releases 2024 Internal Examination Results, Anambra Tops in Performance
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially announced the release of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal results. The announcement was made by NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, during a press briefing on Thursday, September 19, in Minna.
Professor Wushishi revealed that Anambra State recorded the highest performance in the 2024 NECO common entrance exams, further cementing its reputation for academic excellence.
In addition to the results release, NECO took disciplinary actions against 21 supervisors across 12 states, blacklisting them for various forms of misconduct, including aiding and abetting malpractice, negligence, and extortion. Furthermore, one school in Ekiti State was de-recognized for its involvement in mass cheating across two core subjects and one science subject.
“Forty schools in 17 states were found guilty of whole-school mass cheating,” Wushishi stated, adding that these institutions will be summoned for discussions before facing appropriate sanctions.
This comes amidst recent discussions surrounding age restrictions for WAEC and NECO examinations, though NECO reiterated that no students under 18 have been barred from taking the exams.
