JUST IN: NCAA Slams Six-Month Domestic Flight Ban on Fuji Icon KWAM 1

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed a six-month ban on popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, from flying within Nigeria. The move follows an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where the artist reportedly behaved in an unruly manner during boarding.

NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, disclosed the decision during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday. He stated that the action is being taken to maintain discipline and protect airport personnel from harassment, regardless of an individual’s status.

The controversy stems from an episode earlier in the week during which KWAM 1 allegedly spilled alcohol on an airline staff member while boarding a domestic flight. According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the musician was seen holding a bottle of what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage, and the contents were spilled during an interaction with the crew. FAAN described the conduct as “unacceptable” and a breach of aviation safety standards.

In response, KWAM 1 has denied any wrongdoing. He claimed the bottle contained water and not alcohol, and his team suggested that the matter had been amicably resolved, citing outreach from senior officials including the Head of Airport Security and top executives of the airline involved. Despite the artist’s defense, both FAAN and NCAA have stood firm, emphasizing the need to uphold decorum and safety at all times in Nigerian airports.
