JUST IN: NABTEB Releases 2024 NBC and NTC Examination Results

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2024 in-school National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations. The release was confirmed by the newly appointed Acting Registrar/CEO, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, at NABTEB’s headquarters in Ikpoba Hill, Benin.

The 2024 results were issued 63 days after the examinations, marking an unprecedented achievement in the board’s history. Dr. Asanga emphasized that this accomplishment aligns with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Tinubu, reflecting NABTEB’s commitment to education reform and efficiency. He further noted that the board aims to reduce the turnaround time for future results even further.

Of the candidates who sat for the exams, 44,000 (65.34%) earned five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, 62,235 candidates (92.42%) achieved five credits or more, regardless of English or Mathematics. However, the performance reflected a slight decline compared to 2023 results, where 73.19% of students obtained five credits including English and Mathematics, and 92.43% achieved five credits in total.

In addressing examination malpractice, Dr. Asanga revealed that 349 candidates (0.52%) were involved in exam-related misconduct during the 2024 exams, a slight increase from 0.45% in 2023. He stressed the importance of academic integrity, noting that examination malpractice threatens the credibility of educational assessments and hinders students’ learning development.

Dr. Asanga reiterated NABTEB’s role in conducting skill-based assessments for the award of Business, Vocational, and Technical certificates. These certifications qualify individuals for employment and access to higher education, supporting both formal and informal education pathways, including apprenticeship schemes.
