JUST IN: Mudashiru Obasa Returns as Lagos Assembly Speaker
Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has been reinstated as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. His return was confirmed during a plenary session currently ongoing at the Assembly chambers.
Obasa’s nomination came from Hon. Noheem Adams of Eti Osa Constituency 1 and was seconded by Hon. Nureni Akinsanya of Mushin Constituency. This development follows a period of political turbulence in the Assembly, which saw Obasa and former Clerk Olalekan Onafeko removed by 32 lawmakers in January.
The crisis took a new turn on Monday, March 3, when former Speaker Hon. Mojisola Meranda resigned from the position. She was subsequently nominated and sworn in as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
