JUST IN: Mother, Newborn Perish in Ondo Building Collapse
A mother and her nine-day-old baby lost their lives when a building collapsed on Ayedun Street, situated along Hospital/Egbe Road in Akure, the capital of Ondo state.
Sources reveal that the catastrophe unfolded during the early hours of Wednesday when an overhead water tank crashed onto the building, claiming the lives of the mother and her infant.
While the grandmother and elder brother of the deceased baby managed to survive, they sustained injuries during the collapse.
Swift response from security personnel led to the evacuation of the victims’ bodies, with the injured individuals currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital. The community is left in shock and mourning as investigations into the incident are expected to unfold in the coming days.
