JUST IN: Minister of Power Resigns
Adebayo Adelabu has resigned from his role as Minister of Power, signaling his intention to enter the race for governor of Oyo State.
In a resignation letter dated March 26, 2026, and addressed to President Bola Tinubu through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Adelabu said the decision was driven by his plan to focus fully on his political ambition in Oyo State.
He expressed appreciation to Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the federal cabinet, noting that his tenure allowed him to contribute to ongoing efforts in the power sector.
Adelabu stated that leaving office was necessary to dedicate his time and resources to his governorship campaign.
The resignation brings his stint as Minister of Power under the current administration to an end as political activities begin to build ahead of the next electoral cycle in Oyo State.
