At least four residents were killed during a midnight attack on Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The assailants, suspected to be herdsmen, reportedly stormed the community around 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Witnesses said the gunmen were heavily armed and fired shots indiscriminately, causing residents to flee their homes.
Those confirmed dead are Hon. Ochi Ayedu, Eje Uzu, Alinko, and Achibi. As of the time of this report, several residents remain missing, and their whereabouts are unknown.
The attackers were said to have remained in the area for hours before withdrawing. Security presence in the community remains limited, according to local sources.
The latest killings follow an earlier attack on Otobi-Akpa a few months ago, during which at least 13 people were killed, dozens were displaced, and more than 50 houses were destroyed.
Details are still emerging.
