Umuahia, Abia State – In a recent development, the Abia State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which convened in Umuahia, has made a significant ruling. On Wednesday, it announced its decision to remove Amobi Ogah, a member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, from his seat under the Labour Party (LP).
The tribunal’s verdict came as a result of a petition filed by Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In response to her plea, the court not only unseated Ogah but also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to retract the certificate of return previously awarded to him.
This decision signifies a turning point in the political landscape of Abia State. It paves the way for Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the petitioner from the APC, to assume the position of representative for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency. The certificate of return, which now awaits her, symbolizes her victory in this closely watched legal battle.
