JUST IN: Leaked Chats Show Ex-Rivers HoS Sought Financial Support for Loyalty from Fubara’s Chief of Staff
A fresh controversy has erupted in Rivers State as alleged leaked WhatsApp conversations between former Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, have surfaced.
The messages, now making rounds online, suggest that Nwaeke sought financial and psychological support after his resignation, lamenting that his N500,000 monthly salary was insufficient to meet his needs and political obligations. In one exchange, he expresses concerns about his situation, stating, “I threw in the towel to forestall their evil plan.”
Further conversations show Nwaeke maintaining contact with Ehie, requesting a meeting to discuss “smart and actionable ideas” to counter what he described as “vandals” in the state. He also apologizes for missing a call, citing an “uncomfortable environment,” hinting at pressure surrounding his resignation.
The emergence of these chats raises fresh questions about Nwaeke’s motives following his recent explosive allegations against Governor Fubara. While his wife has publicly cried out over his whereabouts, the governor had earlier dismissed his claims, alleging that Nwaeke had been “compromised” and influenced to spread falsehoods.
