JUST IN: Lagos Police Arrest TikToker Peller Over Reckless Livestream Driving That Led to Crash

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular TikToker and social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, over a viral video showing him driving recklessly while livestreaming, an act that reportedly led to a serious road accident.

Police authorities said the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, when the influencer was seen driving at a dangerously high speed during a live broadcast. The conduct, described by the police as “suicidal,” was said to have posed grave danger to Peller himself and other road users.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody after the video spread widely across social media platforms. According to the statement, the reckless driving resulted in a motor accident and constituted a serious threat to public safety.

The police noted that the suspect’s actions amounted to a deliberate endangerment of life and a violation of traffic and criminal laws. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, while authorities said the outcome of the probe would be made public.

The command added that Peller would be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction upon the conclusion of investigations, in line with existing laws.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a strong warning to social media influencers, content creators, and members of the public against using online platforms to promote or engage in reckless, dangerous, or unlawful activities.

He stressed that such actions would not be tolerated and assured that offenders would face the full weight of the law. The commissioner also urged all road users to strictly obey traffic regulations, reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining peace across the state.
