JUST IN: Labour Party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, Reportedly Arrested in Benin City
The Nigerian Police have reportedly taken into custody the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barrister Julius Abure. The arrest occurred in Benin City, Edo State, on Wednesday.
While the exact reasons for his apprehension remain unclear, speculations suggest a connection to the ongoing internal turmoil within the party. Barrister Abure has been under scrutiny, facing allegations of misappropriating party funds amounting to over N3 billion.
The party’s National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara, publicly accused Abure of mishandling funds, specifically highlighting the misuse of N3.5 billion generated from the sales of nomination forms and other pre-2023 general election activities.
