JUST IN: Labour Leaders Raise Alarm Over Soldiers Surrounding SGF Office During Minimum Wage Discussion

In a developing story, labour leaders meeting with Federal Government representatives at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) have expressed concerns over the unexpected presence of soldiers around the premises.

Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other labour leaders were taken aback by the military presence. A senior Trade Union Congress (TUC) leader, who requested anonymity, told our correspondent, “We are currently still inside the meeting. We are unaware of the situation outside or the reason for the soldiers’ deployment around the SGF office.”

Another NLC leader confirmed the unusual sighting of soldiers, raising further questions about the security situation.

The meeting was convened by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation. While the exact agenda was not disclosed, it is widely believed to pertain to the ongoing nationwide strike and minimum wage discussions.
