JUST IN: Kidnapped Catholic Priest, Two Others Regain Freedom
Rev. Maurice Livinus, the parish priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Isokpo, Rivers State, has regained his freedom alongside two other unidentified individuals after being abducted last Wednesday. The victims were kidnapped along the Elele-Isiokpo road in Ikwerre Local Government Area while returning from a hospital visit.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed their release in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, on Sunday. According to the statement, the victims were freed following coordinated pressure from security forces, including the police, soldiers from the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Isiokpo, and local vigilantes.
Authorities reported that the freed individuals have been reunited with their families and are receiving medical attention. The police also assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
“The victims have been reunited with their families for medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the culprits,” SP Iringe-Koko stated.
