JUST IN: Helicopter Carrying Iranian President, Foreign Minister Crashes
A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian crashed on Sunday, state media reported. Despite a massive search operation involving 16 teams, the helicopter has yet to be found due to heavy fog.
The state news agency IRNA stated that inclement weather is severely hindering the search efforts, which have been ongoing for nearly five hours without success. There has been no official confirmation of casualties or the condition of the President and Foreign Minister.
Earlier reports suggested that the helicopter was part of a convoy of three aircraft transporting the Iranian President when the accident occurred. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
