JUST IN: Gunmen kidnap PDP Chieftain in Oyo
Chief Benedict Akika, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has been abducted by armed assailants. The incident occurred at his residence in Olorunda, Lagelu Local Government Area, on Wednesday night.
Reports indicate that the gunmen, heavily armed, forcibly entered Akika’s home, threatening violence to ensure compliance from anyone present. A family source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the kidnappers fired gunshots to intimidate the occupants before abducting Akika and fleeing to an undisclosed location.
This abduction comes shortly after Akika’s recent philanthropic efforts, where he provided work tools worth millions of naira to widows and the less privileged at his residence.
As of now, attempts to reach Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, for confirmation and further details have been unsuccessful.
