JUST IN: George Moghalu Resigns from APC

Chief Dr. George Moghalu, former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially resigned from the party.

Moghalu, a key founding member of the APC, submitted his resignation letter on August 26, 2024. The letter, addressed to the chairman of his Uruagu Ward 1 in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, confirmed his decision to leave the party.

“I bring to you the good wishes of my dear family and to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with effect from today, 26th day of August, 2024,” Moghalu wrote in the letter. He emphasized that the decision was a personal one and expressed hope that the cordial relationships built over the years would continue.

Moghalu, who played a significant role in the formation of the APC during the merger that led to its creation, has been a prominent figure within the party. He has twice contested for the governorship ticket under the APC platform in 2017 and 2021. His last notable engagement with the party was at the State Youth Wing Conference in Awka, where he made a significant donation.

When reached for comment, Moghalu stated that his future political plans would be announced in due course.
