JUST IN: Fuel Tanker Explodes, Many Feared Dead, Including Pregnant Woman
A devastating explosion occurred on Saturday morning near Dikko Junction in Niger State, claiming multiple lives, including a pregnant woman and her children. The blast happened along Minna Road, close to Abuja, after a crashed fuel tanker ignited while people attempted to scoop fuel from the wreckage.
Eyewitnesses reported that several individuals, eager to collect the spilling fuel, had gathered with jerrycans and containers when the explosion erupted. Some even brought a generator to assist in siphoning the fuel, which is believed to have triggered the deadly blast.
While the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, reports indicate a significant loss of life. “I saw the bodies of the victims, but I cannot confirm the exact number. Among them were a pregnant woman and some children,” an eyewitness recounted.
Emergency responders, including firefighters, are still battling the raging fire at the scene. Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the number of casualties.
