It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of former Senate spokesperson, Ayogu Eze, at the age of 66. The distinguished former senator, who represented the Enugu North Senatorial District from 2007 to 2015, died on Thursday at an Abuja hospital after battling an undisclosed illness.
Eze was known for his significant contributions to the Nigerian Senate during his tenure. He served in various key roles, including chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, and as a member of several other committees, such as Constitutional Amendment, Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.
In addition to his parliamentary roles, Eze was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He continued to remain active in public service after his time in the Senate, earning a federal appointment in May 2023 as a Commissioner for the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
