The Federal Government has rewarded 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullahi from Yobe State with N200,000 following her victory at the TeenEagle Global Finals in London, where she was named World Best in English. The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented the award at a ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, praising her achievement as a source of national pride.
Nafisa, alongside fellow winners Rukaiya Fema and Khadija Kalli, had earlier received fully funded scholarships from the Atiku Abubakar Foundation in recognition of their success at the international academic competition. In a letter signed by the Acting Secretary of the Foundation, Prof. Ahmadu Shehu, the trio was commended for their “remarkable success” on the global stage.
Competing against participants from 69 countries, Nafisa distinguished herself through her mastery of the English language, critical thinking, and strong articulation, securing her place as one of Nigeria’s brightest young talents.
