JUST IN: FBI Identifies 20-Year-Old Suspect in Trump Rally Shooting
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has named 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the suspect in the recent shooting at a rally for former President Donald Trump.
According to the FBI, Crooks is a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The shooting occurred while Trump was delivering a speech at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
The FBI has labeled the incident as an assassination attempt. Although Trump survived the shooting, the attack resulted in one fatality and left two others gravely injured.
In a statement released on Sunday, the FBI said, “The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
The FBI has provided a phone number and a dedicated website for anyone with information, videos, or pictures related to the shooting. Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh office, Kevin Rojek, mentioned that the website for tips is http://www.FBI.gov/Butler.
Following the incident, Trump returned to New Jersey, with his plane landing early on Sunday morning.
The shooting has drawn widespread condemnation from world leaders. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it an “inexcusable attack,” while Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was “appalled,” stating that “violence has no justification and no place anywhere in the world.” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concern, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured, and the American people.”
As investigations continue, the FBI urges anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
