JUST IN: Evangelist Uma Ukpai Reportedly Dead
Reports have emerged on social media suggesting that renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Uma Ukpai, has passed away.
The unconfirmed reports began circulating after Prophet Joel Ogebe shared a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.” Although Ogebe did not mention any names, many users quickly linked the message to Rev. Ukpai, a respected figure in the Christian community and a prominent evangelist based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Adding to the speculation, Christian media platform Church Gist posted on Facebook: “A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.” The post has since generated an outpouring of tributes and emotional reactions from church members, ministers, and followers across social media platforms.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by Rev. Ukpai’s family or the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association to confirm or deny the reports.
Rev. Uma Ukpai is widely known for his decades-long ministry and impactful evangelistic outreach across Nigeria and beyond. His teachings, crusades, and humanitarian initiatives have touched countless lives, earning him recognition as one of the nation’s most influential Christian leaders.
Nigerians continue to await an official confirmation regarding the circulating reports as tributes and messages of condolence continue to flood social media.
