JUST IN: EFCC Declares Aisha Achimugu Wanted
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared businesswoman Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu wanted over allegations of money laundering and criminal conspiracy. The agency’s public notice, issued today, calls for information on her whereabouts, stating she is under investigation for financial crimes.
Achimugu, a prominent socialite and CEO of Felak Concept Group, is also at the center of a major political scandal involving Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Reports allege that she was used as a conduit to secretly funnel funds to opposition leaders Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar—both strong opponents of President Bola Tinubu.
Sources indicate that after the 2023 elections, security and anti-graft officials expanded their probe into Achimugu’s financial dealings. She was identified as a key figure in allegedly smuggling money linked to Governor Sanwo-Olu, which later ended up in the hands of opposition figures. Investigators believe these transactions may have been part of a political maneuver following President Tinubu’s surprising loss in Lagos during the presidential election.
The EFCC’s action comes weeks after Achimugu reportedly fled Nigeria, allegedly to evade questioning. She was scheduled to meet with investigators on March 5 but left the country shortly after. The commission has since obtained a court-issued arrest warrant, formalizing her wanted status.
