JUST IN: Court Discharges Ibom Air Passenger Accused of Unruly Conduct
An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, has discharged Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger accused of unruly behaviour and assault during a flight.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami on Wednesday struck out the five-count charge against Emmanson after the police formally applied to withdraw the case.
The charges alleged that Emmanson disrupted peace onboard the flight, assaulted a crew member, and conducted herself in a manner likely to breach public order. She had pleaded not guilty when first arraigned.
During proceedings, Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court that both the complainant and the airline were no longer interested in pursuing the matter. She said her application was based on instructions from the police authorities.
Magistrate Salami granted the application and ordered Emmanson’s discharge, bringing the case to a close.
