JUST IN: Court Admits Video of Nnamdi Kanu’s Interrogation, Recovered Items as Evidence

A video recording of Nnamdi Kanu’s interrogation by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) was presented in court during his ongoing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The video features Kanu’s statements, including his admission regarding the establishment of Radio Biafra and its registration in London.

Kanu also clarified in the video that he did not register the radio station with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) because he did not see the need to do so. Furthermore, he reiterated his fight for the emancipation of the people in the South East, South South, and parts of Benue and Kogi, claiming that such advocacy is not a crime but a fundamental right recognized globally, including in Nigeria.

In addition to the video, a statement Kanu made on October 15, 2015, was read in court. He denied involvement in any violence, stating that he has not been linked to any violent activities.

Meanwhile, items recovered from Kanu’s hotel room in 2015 were brought into the courtroom. These items, contained in four suitcases, were tendered as evidence. Defense lawyer Kanu Agabi (SAN) did not object when prosecuting lawyer Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) applied to admit the items into evidence. Justice James Omotosho has officially accepted the items for inclusion in the trial.

The trial continues, with further updates expected.
