JUST IN: Bandits Launch Daring Attack on NSCDC Headquarters in Nasarawa
In a brazen attack, an unspecified number of bandits stormed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) headquarters in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, early Monday morning.
Reports indicate that the assailants launched their assault amid sporadic gunfire. However, NSCDC operatives swiftly responded, engaging the attackers in a gunfight and repelling the invasion.
According to sources, the bandits aimed to free high-profile suspects held in the Command’s custody. NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Jerry Victor, revealed that the attackers were armed with sophisticated weapons and attempted to breach the building by breaking through parts of the fence and positioning themselves around the premises.
“The operatives of the NSCDC swiftly responded by opening fire on the hoodlums whose mission was to release some high-profile suspected criminals, including informants of kidnappers in the custody of the Command,” Victor stated.
He also confirmed that no casualties were reported in the exchange of gunfire. The situation has since been brought under control, with security measures being reinforced to prevent future occurrences.
