Key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met behind closed doors in Abuja on Monday as part of ongoing talks to form a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. The meeting, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, brought together former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, among other top party figures.
Also present were former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus and former governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi). According to sources, the meeting was chaired by David Mark.
Discussions focused on whether the PDP should fully integrate into a new coalition platform or remain as a separate party while forming an electoral alliance to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027. The meeting marks a key step in opposition efforts to build a united front ahead of the next election cycle.
