JUST IN: Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien, Passes Away at 100
The esteemed traditional ruler of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien, the 13th Asagba of Asaba, has reportedly breathed his last on Wednesday.
The demise of Edozien comes amid the commencement of activities marking his remarkable 100th birthday anniversary, casting a shadow over the celebrations that were set to unfold.
Residents of Asaba were hit with the news of the monarch’s passing, expressing their grief and acknowledging the substantial loss to the entire Asaba kingdom. Although the palace is yet to officially announce the revered monarch’s passage, multiple sources have confirmed this unfortunate news to Niger Delta Today.
Efforts to obtain an official response from the Palace Secretary, Chief Patrick Ndili, have, as of now, been unsuccessful. The state awaits an official statement from the palace to provide more details on the passing of the late Asagba of Asaba.
